4 Tips for Your Spring Move

Did you just say something about a Spring move?!

Well, they say that Spring 2020 begins on March 19th. And if I made my calculations correctly, that comes out on a Thursday, in, well, let’s see, if it’s the 19th of February, then, it’s in exactly a month. So that’s actually pretty soon, especially in the world of planning a move.

Did you just say you’re planning on moving in the near future? I figured it’s on your agenda if you’re here… So, let me tell you… Spring is actually the best time of the year for moving… Why? Well, for starters, you can move during mild weather, as apposed to extreme temperatures, whether (pun intended:)) cold or hot. Additionally, since the height of moving season is in the heat of the Summer, moving companies will charge less for your Spring move then they will during the Summer. Besides, reliable moving companies will have a lot more availability during the Spring than they will during the Summer months, when they’re all booked up. And, with Spring being an icon of renewal, what could be better for getting a fresh start in your new home than a Spring move?! So, just to help you out with your Spring move; here are some tips and pointers regarding any Spring move…

1. Better Rates for a Spring Move

Before you get worried about hiring movers for your Spring Move, realize, that during the Spring, you can hire a top-notch moving company at a much more competitive price. This is because peak moving season, hence peak moving rates, are during the Summer. During the Spring, though, before Summer hits, you can benefit from the lower demand on moving companies, which automatically brings down the moving company rates. So, a Spring move, besides being more pleasant, can actually save you money.

2. Movers Availability

Since Spring is not the height of moving season, there will be many reliable, top-notch moving companies with plenty of availability to get your move done. During the Summer they’re constantly booked and it’s, therefore, hard to find top-of-the-line, experienced movers. This often forces customers to settle for mediocre moving companies instead of a top-rated one, during the Summer. For a Spring move, however, you’ll easily find a top-notch moving company with plenty of availability to choose from. Allowing you to use a super, reliable moving company on your choice date.

3. Bring Spring Cleaning to the Next Level

Along with Spring’s renewal, we tend to do our yearly Spring cleaning and clear out all the clutter that has collected in our homes over the winter. And, well, you see, a Spring cleaning and a Spring move have a lot in common. In fact, if they coincide, that makes you the lucky one to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Yup, you got it, Spring is a time of fresh, new beginnings and getting rid of all the junk and clutter is just that, a fresh start. And if you’re preparing for a Spring move, well it’s preparation for your move as well. So go right ahead and sift through your garage, shed, attic, storage and main living areas and organize your belongings. Separate anything you no longer need or can’t use… These items could be sold at a moving garage sale or online… Why pay movers to move your clutter that you’ll have to get rid of in your new home anyway? Get rid of them before your Spring move and save on unnecessary moving expenses… And; get a real fresh start in your new home, with all your belongings organized! Oh, and by the way, the extra money you make from what you sold can go toward all your moving expenses; so there’s a plus right there 🙂

4. Spring Weather

Spring weather is generally mild, that’s what makes it the ideal season for moving, it’s generally not too cold and not too hot. However, there are some points to bear in mind with regard to Spring weather. Spring weather could come along with a bit of a chill, especially in the morning, and depending on the day, it can be chilly during the day time too. So leave a sweater and/or jacket out and accessible for each member of your family for moving day. In addition, Spring is notorious for sudden weather changes, especially Spring showers. Keep an eye on the weather and prepare for potential rain. Have rain coats available for the whole family as well. Also, have plastics accessible to cover delicate furniture and items in the event that it starts raining during your Spring move. Finally, just because it’s not hot like the Summer, the sun is still out during the Spring; don’t underestimate its strength. Put on sunscreen to protect yourself from getting sunburned while you navigate your Spring move.

So, if a Spring move is up next on your agenda, well, preparing ahead of time will serve you well. I mean, if you’ve ever done any sort of move before, you know that working out, planning and orchestrating a move takes a ton of time and coordination. In fact, take it from the experts, no time is too early for planning a move. With that being said, if you want to move this Spring, well, there’s no better time to start planning than right here and now!
