5 Things to Know Before Moving to Staten Island

If you’re thinking of moving to Staten Island, well that’s really exciting! It’s a great place to move to and an even better place to live.

Before you start packing, though, here are some things to keep in mind before moving to Staten Island.

1. Affordable Homes:

New York City housing is notoriously expensive. I mean, buying a decent size home in Brooklyn is no joke, it’s really expensive. And forget about Manhattan. That’s pretty much not doable. So if you’re looking to buy a nice size home at an affordable price; moving to Staten Island is a fantastic choice. You’ll enjoy the benefits of a spacious home at an affordable price.

2. Recreation Without Any Night Mares:

Moving to Staten Island will give you some great opportunities for recreation. There’s swimming pools available in recreation centers such as, Lyons Pool Recreation Center, Totten Pool and Blue Arrow Swimming Club. There are also many beautiful parks to visit, such as, Clove Lakes Park, Willowbrook Park and Freshkills Park, just to name a few. These boast ball fields, lakes, canoeing, play grounds etc. There’s also a great variety of indoor recreation centers, good for when the weather doesn’t allow for outdoor activity. These are just some of the phenomenal relaxation and recreation options moving to Staten Island will present you with. With all that said, though, there’s no late night partying to go along with this. Rather, when night time hits, residents retreat to their homes, creating a quiet, peaceful night time atmosphere outdoors. This is actually great for family life, or for anyone, for that matter. Have fun by day and sleep at night. That sounds normal. A lot better than the constant noise in Manhattan. Sort-of the best of both worlds; live in New York City but have peace of night time instead of the round-the-clock noise in Manhattan.

3. Family Oriented:

Moving to Staten Island takes you away from the hustle and bustle of normal city life. The area, as mentioned above, has a quiet, calm side to it. It also has super schools for kids to attend. Besides, as we mentioned, housing’s affordable; you can actually buy a perfect home for your growing family at a fair price. So if you’re moving with a family, moving to Staten Island is a great choice because it’s extremely family oriented.

4. Job Opportunities:

There are great job opportunities for adults moving to Staten Island. In fact, Staten Island’s job market has increased by .5% over the last year. With future job growth over the next ten years predicted to be 32%, which is lower than our national U.S. average of 33.5%.
